Services
Consultations: Complimentary 10 minute video consultations are designed to determine if your child would benefit from a comprehensive evaluation.

During the consultation we have the opportunity to learn more about your child and answer any questions you may have. We ask that all prospective clients have a current hearing screening prior to beginning the assessment process.
Speech and Language Evaluations
A speech-language evaluation will be conducted to determine the diagnosis and need, type, and frequency of therapy.

A typical evaluation consists of history review, informal observations, questionnaires, and formal standardized testing. Following the evaluation, we review our findings, along with a plan of care for future visits if additional treatment is recommended. We will present and discuss the results of the evaluation with you during your first treatment visit and answer any questions you may have.
Treatment
Specific skills will be identified and targeted for therapy based on testing, readiness, and the family’s goals.

In-person sessions are one on one with a 30-minute and 60-minute option. Most therapy recommendations are once to twice per week depending on the individual’s unique needs. At the conclusion of each session, your child’s therapist will share with you what was focused on and will provide you with suggestions and materials for at home practice. We welcome family members to be a part of the therapeutic process if you so desire.

Teletherapy sessions are speech therapy that is provided over a secure video connection. These sessions are one on one with a 30-minute and 60-minute option. Oakland Speech and Language provides speech and language therapy via Google Meet. Research tells us that teletherapy is highly effective and feels very much the same as in-person sessions. We are experienced and creative; making each session unique and fun for you child. We would be so happy to have a conversation about your child and how sessions would look for their specific personal and therapy goals.
